In honor of our recent Bachelor and Bachelorette parties, I have chosen a pic taken in Vegas about 3 years ago (? I think....) This was taken in either the Venetian or Palazzo during the holiday season. Vegas is a nice lil' get-away place we like to visit every now and then. Hopefully, we'll be able to make more trips out there in the near future!

Tis the Season...for OC Fair!
I am DAYS (maybe even hours) away from completing my graduate program at LMU, and I am now procrastinating. Summer season is upon us, and one of our favorite things to do every summer is go to the OC Fair. It's become a tradition for us to go to the fair and grub on some yummy, deep-fried, fatty goodness. I know a few of my familia and friends who just came back from the Del Mar Fair (Mia or should I say Nila! & Branna!). I can't wait for the OC Fair to roll around. It is also tradition to take a photobooth picture. This above shot was taken in 2009 with our dearest sisters :D This was also an epic night because we discovered Derrick's favorite beer: Dos Equis!!! Yesssss good times indeed. I am counting down the hours.

Remember Wing's Ugly Cry?!
After daily Mass ended, I lingered in the Chapel. The Chapel is one of my favorite places in the world (yes, the whole world!). I didn't notice that as I stayed behind my family slowly disappeared and I was left with Derrick. We went together to the Blessed Sacrament to pray and spend some time with Jesus.
After we were done praying, I felt a sense of peace and happiness. It was nice being in my second home, being in the Chapel, and being with my beloved. :) Derrick led us into a pew, and we sat down and chatted.
It was a special moment, a time where the world went on and there was nothing but the two of us. For a split second, it crossed my mind that this would be a sweet proposal. I quickly brushed that idea aside because I knew that marriage was a reality in the future, not the present (Derrick had done a great job convincing me it wouldn't happen for at least 3 or 4 years...). In the middle of our conversation, we were approached by two Seattle U friends, George and Kat. (Again, I didn't know this was part of the plan! They were spies!) Once we parted ways, Derrick said it was time to return back to my family. We walked outside the Chapel, enjoying the soft sun and pleasant day.
Derrick stopped me again in front of the reflection pool and shared more sweet sentiments. Before I knew it, I realized that this seemed more than a romantic moment, an anniversary celebration, or sweet love letter It was going to happen, Derrick was about to propose.
And lo and behold, Dante Derrick David got down on one knee, asked me to spend the rest of his life with him, starting now, and presented me with a gorgeous dream ring!
However, the proposal wasn't quite over yet. Derrick said he wanted to share this moment with a few of our loved ones. This was the next vision I saw:
Family and friends from California and Seattle came together to be part of our Engagement! It was amazing and beautiful to see and feel all the love and support from so many people. So while many of you tease me and love to remind me of my "ugly cry" (see below),
I remember the feeling of being overwhelmed and overjoyed by the amount of love and support we have been blessed with. Oh and the fact that I was going to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life :) It was FORREAL now!So thank you to our wonderful family and friends for being such an important part of our lives as individuals and within our relationship. And thank you to my beloved, my fiance, my soon-to-be husband for the best proposal that I could have ever dreamed of.

PDA
So sad, huh? That's how he feels :( heheh Actually, this pic was taken at his birthday celebration a few years ago with his fellow April Celebrants: DAV and Reg (aka Ate). We had a water balloon fight and other sorts of game, just like a childhood picnic! On other days, Derrick can't keep his hands off of me, like this:
He was probably feelin' all the love at Dee and Dav's wedding (or was simply giddy because he was tipsy. ohps. :D )

Ohana Means Family. Friends = Family.

We go on Mall Dates

It's about 2 a.m. and I'm delirious. But it's been a long time since I've posted and I wanted to share a photo! :D Here's a pic of Dante and I at Beverly Center. One of the things we haven't done in so long is go window-shopping at the Mall. We usually do this so we can walk off our lunch or dinner. Pictures of us in the mall is rare so this is a special one :) Don't we look so young?

Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween! Here's a fun pic of us from Halloween 2008. I came dressed as a Native American, and Ate and I threw on the M&M costume on Derrick. We needed to make him festive. This was also the Halloween where Derrick carved his first pumpkin EVER! So exciting :) Hopefully there'll be many more Halloweens dressed up for fun.

The Commencement of Many Things

So it's been a long time since the last blog! It's been a busy month, and it's only bound to get busier! Trying to stay on track here. The above picture is a rare one! It's one where we are both in our cap and gown. Problem is, you can't see our gowns! This past weekend, Dante Derrick David became a Master. A Master of Business Administration. YAHOOOOO!!! I am so proud of my Babe and his hard work over the past 3 years. I still remember when I lived in Montana, and we were a newbie couple. Derrick had mentioned he wanted to pursue his MBA and enter into a program either at Long Beach or Fullerton. He also said he'd hope I'd be along for the journey. Well, lo and behold, here I am with you, Babe! It's been a challenging few years, but the sacrifices we've encountered has only made our relationship stronger. With God, all things are possible, and love makes it an easier journey :) So, CONGRATULATIONS MASTER DANTE DERRICK DAVID! In a few weeks time, I'll officially join you!

4 years, and going strong!

4 years ago... G-chats, emails, and phone conversations were all they had.
4 years ago... 1 a.m. didn't seem too late when they were laughing and talking.
4 years ago... Distance made the heart grow fonder.
4 years ago... There was a lot of uncertainty, but hope in the potential of what could be.
4 years ago... Butterflies fluttered in her heart and stomach.
4 years ago... RENT was playing in Seattle, and her beloved friends decided to fly her out.
so, 4 years ago... Derrick decided to fly out to Seattle to meet her there.
4 years ago... They reunited SeaTac Airport.
4 years ago... Smiles and giggles were exchanged, along with bashful smiles and sideways glances.
4 years ago... They headed to Pike Place Market for their first unofficial date.
4 years ago... She grabbed his hand and held it tightly as they strolled through the Market.
4 years ago... They decided to check out the Space Needle.
4 years ago... They snapped photos in a photo booth, and Derrick planted his first kiss on her cheek.
4 years ago... They sat on a bench, and as they watched the dancing fountain, they decided that this was it.
4 years ago... Derrick and Rowena decided it was their time, by the grace of God, to begin a journey of intimate friendship and love.
4 years later... Derrick and Rowena are headed down the aisle! :D
Happy 4 years Babe! I love you lots.

Sunsets are Pretty
Happy Monday everyone! Hope you had a great Mother's Day with your mommies or if you are mommies, with your kiddos :) Storytime with the picture: This was taken in Seaport Village in San Diego. Cute lil' spot with shops and places to eat. It is also very picturesque, hence the reason we have a photo here taken at sunset. We rarely have sunset shots because typically we part ways about that time of the weekend or we're at Mass or we're eating... Anyhoo, thought the sunset and water was very lovely in this shot. Hopefully we get to come back soon! Friday, May 6, 2011
Date Night!

I will love yoooou, I'll love yoooou, I'll love you!

Here's a pic of Dante and I last May at the Hotel Cafe for our very first KINA GRANNIS concert! Kina Grannis = amazing!!! I found her a couple years back (thanks for Barbra!) who sent me a link to attend an Asian American event in LA. I didn't attend, but I was mesmerized by Kina's voice. She was singing with other Asian American artists, performing a cover of Chris Brown's "Forever." Decided to youtube this girl, and it was one of the best things I ever did! Found my study buddy music and newfound appreciation/admiration for Kina! Derrick soon fell in love with her too. * sigh *We got to meet Kina at Hotel Café and she is the sweetest! We even got to hug her! (We have pics to prove.)
We love Kina so much, we decided to go to another concern in the fall. This time, we got a picture of her with both of us included!
Kina, you’re an inspiration! And it all started with this:
Love, it's a special day
We should celebrate and appreciate
that you and me found something pretty neat
And I know some say this day is arbitrary
But it's a good excuse, put our love to use,
Baby, I know what to do,
Baby, I will love you
I'll love you, I'll love you.

Back in the Day...
Here's a pic from our second time hanging out! We're kickin' it at Dave and Busters with (from top left around the table) Marites, Meechy, Ate (me, Derrick) GP, Angie, and Kathee! Derrick didn't know he was in love with me yet at this point. He was playing cool guy in his denim shorts. And look how he and GP matches so! Awwww so cute! Derrick started to talk to me a couple times here. I suppose that Corona loosened him up ;) Good times, friends!

Joke's on Us!
This is a silly pic of us. It was taken in my room in Montana. After Derrick and I became official in Seattle, we knew we had 3 long months of a long-distance relationship before I moved back home to Cali. Well, being the sweet romantic he is, Derrick planned a surprise by visiting me in good ol' Big Sky Country Montana :) Just days after we parted ways in Seattle, he purchased a ticket to Montana and mailed me proof of his surprise. He flew out a couple months later in late July, and we spent a few days together. It was great having there, being able to show him Montana and spending time with my JV roommates. The above picture is a tribute to my JVC roomies: COURTNEY, ERIN, HEATHER, & MEGAN. These girls knew how much Derrick and I missed each other and figured we'd spend most of our time "spooning." As a prank, the girls decided to hide SPOONS all over my room, tucked in my bed, in my drawers, on the dressers, in my shoes, they were literally EVERYWHERE! Although the pic did not capture it, we were holding a jar full of spoons! Good one, ladies!!! (For the record, we did some of that cuddling business, but I also took Derrick on a tour of Montana - visited the mall, watched a movie, drove out to the Museum of the Rockies and went above on the Rimrocks - which is actually the first pic posted on our blog by Dante!)

Ecstatic!
This picture was taken on a Saturday. (Sidenote: My Saturdays for the past 2 years have been spent at LMU.) While I was in class that day, Derrick went Engagement Ring shopping with his bro and my Ate. Little did I know, Derrick purchased the ring that day! So as we sat down to snap this photo, Derrick, his bro, and my Ate all had a little secret: Derrick was going to propose (3 months later, that is...)! :)

Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder
As many of you know, Derrick and I started dating as a long distance couple. Derrick lived in California while I was miles away in Montana. Our primary form of communication was the phone. We also used email and Gchat when I had access to the Internet. In one of our many emails, we decided to share some of our most disgusting pictures. And yes, this is how we fell in love with each other. Here are the photos shared between us, all from one gigantic email:

Clearly, this is how Derrick fell in love with me: CHEMISTRY GOGGLES!(Again, Judy stares at me adoringly. She can't help it! ;)

And why is Brenton standing all alone in the background, in REEBOKS? (Love you Brenton! :)

So In Love
So young. So in love. So cheesy! haha This picture was taken shortly after we celebrated our 6-month anniversary. A couple of posts ago, I showed you a picture of the super cute mobile that Derrick made for me. He also gave me a nifty camera as part of his anniversary gift! This camera has a paint feature, and we decided to test it out one afternoon. We snapped this pic and then painted onto it: I heart U!
CAUTION: Inappropriateness is Derrick's middle name.

Yup, don't say I didn't warn you. hehe Derrick is a fan of crude humor and sometimes feels the need to "expose" himself. Just be aware when you're in his presence. If he's wearing a backpack, consider yourself lucky as his backpack acts as a barrier between you and his nipples. *sigh* Yes, friends, my future husband. oh dear.
Blog Hiatus
I love this pic! This was photographed by our dear friend Dianne during a Days Picnic/Reunion a few summers ago. I do NOT (I repeat DO NOT) love Derrick's hair in the pic. Long hair on Dante is not okay with me. But I accept him, nonetheless. (Babe, no you can't grow it out for the wedding. Thank you :) And for my friends encouraging it, please don't. hahaha)Derrick and I are not very showy with our affections; rarely do we engage in public displays of affection, not for any particular reason. So this is a rare shot folks! ...One I treasure A LOT :D

Creativity is the way to my Heart :)

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! ALLELUIA! HE IS RISEN, TRULY RISEN! I hope you've enjoyed this blessed day with your loved ones. I know we had a special Easter Vigil celebration with Mom and Daddy, along with Ate and Chris. After a beautiful (and long!) Vigil Mass, we headed over to Korean BBQ to celebrate! (We gave up red meat for Lent.) What a feast for everyone! :D
On to the above picture. This photo was taken on our 6 month anniversary :) As you can see, I am holding a heart-shape. What exactly is it? It is a heart-shaped mobile with dangling purple butterflies! Derrick personally hand-crafted this 6-month anniversary gift! I love it! It's purple, it has butterflies, and it is thoughtful. That's love. :) This mobile still hangs in my bedroom to this very day.

D-Land (Derrick Land not Disneyland...jk)
I had this picture as the background of my phone for quite awhile. This was taken at Disneyland, a place we like to spend our very little free time. Kudos to one of our favorite couples, Carla & Eric, for this picture. Honestly, I never cared too much for Disneyland. I took it for granted because I live only 15 minutes from there. But in more recent years, a lot of my close friends and family started going to Disneyland and even bought annual passes. This reminded me that acting like a child and having fun is nothing to be ashamed of and it's a nice way to get out all of the seriousness of the daily grind. I'm a big kid at heart.
So now, RoWing and I have our very own annual passes and look forward to using it more once all of the craziness has subsided. Here's to the Happiest Place on Earth and for all of the friends and family we have shared memories with there!
ZzZzZzZz

This is how we feel all the time. Tired. Tired. Tired. It's a miracle if we can squeeze in a lazy day into our schedules! There is one day I can remember where we woke up late, ate, went back to sleep, and didn't get around to starting our day until 4 p.m.! That was Presidents' Day of this year. Hopefully, we'll have more days like that in the future. And hopefully in a month or two, we'll be more like this:

Have a Blessed Triduum!
As many of you know, Derrick proposed at the Chapel of St. Ignatius on the Seattle University campus (my alma mater!). The Chapel is a very sacred place for many people, and in our relationship, it holds a special place as well. The Chapel of St. Ignatius is where Derrick and I first celebrated Mass together when we first started dating. For those of you who don't know our relationship history, we started out as long-distance friends ("penpals" as Joseph Spencer would call it ;). Our friendship turned into like and eventually into love. After 5 months of talking long distance, we decided to meet up in Seattle. Seattle is where we first became official as a couple! And as previously stated, the Chapel is where we first celebrated Mass together. I remember sitting in the Chapel in prayer, thanking God that I found a man with whom I can share my faith with and grow in relationship with Christ at the center. The above picture is one of the few pictures we have taken inside the Chapel. This was taken 3 days after Derrick proposed, and we returned to the Chapel to offer a prayer of thanksgiving. Here, we light a candle for our relationship, as well as the many people who have supported us through.
May you have a blessed Triduum as we remember Jesus' suffering, death, and soon enough, resurrection. For through Him, we have everlasting life <3

I Love You - YUM!

Friends and Fam, welcome to our blog! Follow us through stories and pictures as we reminisce through our journey as a couple. Above: Yes, those are cookies Dante baked and hand-crafted for me on Valentine's Day in 2009! Isn't he a sweetie? They tasted delicious! I can still taste 'em... (Babe, can you bake me some more? ;) Valentine's Day has always been one of my favorite holidays. People can be so cynical and anti-Valentine's but, I for one LOVE IT! People argue that you should say I love you every day, and yes, 'tis true, but embrace this "Hallmark" endorsed holiday and take some time to really tell someone you love them through a letter. For all my retreat peeps, you know how meaningful palancas are. I LOVE writing palancas, which is why I love Valentine's Day! Writing letters, cards, and notes are great - especially when you really take the time to tell the important people in your life how much they mean to you! Derrick used cookies in this particular year, and I thought that was very creative! Derrick is a creative one.
Valentine's Day actually happens to be one of the first holidays we celebrated together during our courtship. As mentioned in our wedding website (weddingwire.com/derrickandrowena), he sent me a package as we were getting to know each other. In the package, he had sent a stuffed Eeyore, a bag of chocolate covered gummy bears, a box of tissues, and a V-Day card :) What a way to make a girl feel special! <3
